![]() Because if your gpu fluctuates below and above your 25-30% usage threshhold where it ramps up and down frequently it can cause micro stuttering. Maximum power is useful in competitive games where you have a very high framerate but also low gpu usage. Generally speaking optimal is best and is very rare for it not to give your system maximum performance in time while still saving power in menus or when nothing is happening. And maximum power forces your gpu to maximum clock speed when the program is launched. Optimal does the same as these two but has a feature where it saves power by not rendering new frames when the image on screen doesnt change. Effectively when your gpu exceeds 25-30% usage they will ramp your gpu up to maximum speed. ![]() The laymens terms is that adaptive and nvidia controlled are the same, nvidia controlled just takes into consideration the integrated gpu for your cpu if youre using it as well. I am simply looking for an option to have max performance in games, but when going through Google, just have low fan noise and less heat because I don't care if it performs better when watching YouTube. Not sure what Adaptive does though and I don't want Optimal Power because it probably only tries to make the GPU use what it only requires. I just don't feel comfortable turning on Prefer Max because it makes my laptop run hot and the fans are loud when I am just watching say YouTube. I think that Nvidia Driver Controlled would be best right because it lets Nvidia decide if they need to push the GPU when I am playing Rainbow 6 Siege or some other game. There are the normal options: Optimal, Adaptive, Prefer Max but also for me there is Nvidia Driver Controlled. Could you explain the Power Management options. I have been to countless sites and videos on what this stuff does. Optimal/Adaptive/Prefer Max/Nvidia Driver Controlled This is the exception not the norm and only applies on very small number of cases.
